August 17, 2018
Aibel awarded Bilfinger additional work related to hook-up of the process platform (P1) and bridge from the living quarter to the process platform at the Johan Sverdrup Field.
In 2017, Bilfinger was awarded the Contract with Aibel for ISS work (insulation, scaffolding and surface treatment) related to hook-up and completion of the drilling platform (DP) at the Johan Sverdrup field which is operated by the Norwegian energy company Equinor. The award of additional work related to the process platform was included as an option in the initial contract.
- We are pleased to secure additional Johan Sverdrup orders together with Aibel and we will do our very best to ensure that we continue to deliver in a safe and efficient manner, says Tove Tyberø, Managing Director in Bilfinger Industrier Norge AS.
The option will extend our project work with Aibel on the Johan Sverdrup field to the end of 2019. The work starts immediately and more than 150 people will be engaged in Bilfinger's hook-up activities at the Johan Sverdrup Field in 2019.
Moreover, Aibel has also awarded Bilfinger an order related to replacing the flare tower at the Riser Platform (RP) at the Johan Sverdrup Field. The scope of work includes development of concept, methods and execution of the work by utilizing advanced rope access techniques.
- The flare tower change out assignment is a confirmation of successful growth and development of our rope access capabilities and that both Aibel and Equinor are satisfied with the ongoing services provided by Bilfinger to prepare the Johan Sverdrup installations for operations, says Tove Tyberø.
The estimated value of the contract option and additional work awarded is approximately 70 million NOK.
