Bilfinger kicks off the offshore activities on the Snorre Expansion Project (SEP)

June 20, 2018

As a part of the existing Bilfinger frame agreement with Equinor at the Snorre field, the upstream service company Aibel AS last year awarded Bilfinger the contract for ISP, rope access and habitat services related to the Snorre Expansion Project (SEP). The overall SEP-project is expected to increase recovery and extend the life of field by 25 years.

Bilfinger has worked closely together with Aibel in the SEP topside modification project for more than a year in order to plan the scope of work and prepare for start-up of the offshore installation phase. The SEP activities offshore have now started and the activity level will be increasing throughout 2018 and 2019.

One of Bilfinger's first offshore activities has been to build a 200 m3 pressurized habitat for welding operations to be performed in 2018. In order to retrieve air from a secure zone, Bilfinger has installed air channels from the opposite side of the Snorre A platform, 150 meter from the habitat location. This order fully demonstrates Bilfinger's patented habitat solution and the multi-skilled capabilities of our organization.

The SEP-project has a duration throughout 2020 and has an estimated value of approximately 90 million NOK for Bilfinger Industrier Norge AS.
