Bilfinger is increasing local staff in Hammerfest

December 21, 2017

Bilfinger Industrier Norge AS have been based in Hammerfest with offices, fabrication and warehouse facilities at Fuglenes in Hammerfest and have had the ISP service contract with Equinor at the Melkøya facilities since the LNG plant was new in 2006. Our plan is to recruit 16 new local employees in 2018 and 2019 to strengthen our capacity in Hammerfest.

In 2016, the Equinor contract was renegotiated and awarded to Bilfinger for 10 years, with a duration throughout 2025.

-Ten years give us the predictability we need and we will use this opportunity to strengthen our presence in Hammerfest, says Sverre Henriksen, Operation Manager in Bilfinger to the local newspaper Hammerfestingen.

Today, Bilfinger have 26 local employees out of a total staff of 40-50 people currently assigned to the contract. More than 90% of our leaders are local employees.

We are excited about the development going forward and have a plan to build up and deliver the projects based on local presence. He hopes that the increase of local employees will strengthen our position for winning more work related to activities planned in the Barents Sea in the future.

Working for Bilfinger requires competencies within the ISP disciplines and our recruitment priority initially will be qualified skilled workers, Henriksen said to Hammerfestingen. We will also increase recruitment through apprentice programs in order to secure the required competencies for the company.

A local base and presence is important for Bilfinger. We look forward to continuing our long standing cooperation with Equinor at the Melkøya LNG plant to realize important improvements in a demanding phase for the industry, Tove Tyberø, CEO of Bilfinger Industrier Norge stated when Bilfinger was awarded the new contract in 2016.
